Why there is nothing to accept

Consent is required when a site stores information on your device, or reads information already stored there, for anything beyond what you actually asked for. That is what cookie banners are for.

This site does not do that. There is no analytics cookie, no advertising pixel, no embedded map, no social feed, and the typefaces are served from this domain rather than fetched from someone else’s. There is therefore no consent to give before anything loads.

The notice you saw when you arrived

You will still have seen a short notice on your first visit. We would rather say plainly what is counted than leave you wondering, and it gives you somewhere to click through to this page.

It does hold one real choice. The anonymous count of page views described below is on to begin with, because it needs no consent, and the second button switches it off: straight away, and on your next visits too. Your answer is kept on your own device, so the notice does not come back at you on every page.

What is written to your device

Two items, both technical, neither of them a cookie.

The first records that the opening animation has already played, so it does not replay on every page. It disappears when you close the tab.

The second is your answer to the notice above, so it is not shown again. It holds nothing but that answer, and you can clear it from your browser settings at any time.

Neither contains an identifier and neither is sent anywhere.

Measurement without cookies

Page views are counted by Vercel Web Analytics. It sets no cookie, stores nothing on your device and does not build a persistent identifier, so it cannot recognise you on a later visit or follow you to another site. It produces counts, not profiles.

It is on unless you say otherwise, and the notice on your first visit lets you turn it off in one click. If you have cleared your browser data since, the notice will appear again and you can answer it again. How the data is handled, and how to object to it, is described in the Privacy Policy.

Controlling this yourself

Every browser lets you block or delete cookies and site data from its settings. Since this site sets no cookies, doing so will change nothing here, but it is your right and it works.

If this ever changes

If a tool that does need consent is ever added, the notice changes shape: it will appear before that tool loads, nothing will run until you have answered, refusing will stay exactly as easy as accepting, and this page will be updated to say what changed.
